It can upgrade or "upconvert" DVD video signals to near-high-definition images, and send them to any TV with a digital video input. The '1920 does a terrific job with CDs, too. You can also listen to high-resolution DVD-Audio discs and Super Audio CDs (SACD). These music discs provide greater sonic detail and warmth than regular CDs for full, precise sound. And with high-quality Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converters, you'll hear all that these high-res music discs have to offer. 

Bass management functions enable you to tailor the sound from SACD and DVD-Audio discs to a wide variety of systems — from full-size speakers to compact satellite/subwoofer setups — so you can enjoy the best possible sound from your system. And the '1920's Pure Direct Mode lets you turn off the video circuits and front-panel display for improved audio clarity from all your music.
